ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Susan Lisapor, Senator Reid’s Rural Representative, commended Jill for her efforts in raising weed awareness and fighting weeds on the ground.  She stated that Nevada CWMAs will receive $100,000 in 2006 from a recent bill which has cleared the appropriations stage.  (It was noted that this amount may have been impacted by the need for funding the war in Iraq).

Dawn Rafferty reported the State of Nevada will have $300,000 in grants for CWMAs in 2006 ($100,000 from the Senate bill and $200,000 USDA Forest Service).  Additionally there is $100,000 from the NV Assembly for abatements.

PUBLIC COMMENT:

There were no public comments.

NEW BUSINESS:

Action Item:  Discussion and Approval of spending the remaining 2005 NDOA funds.  We have spent our money wisely this year.  Some items that were purchased did not require as much money as we appropriated and other budgeted expenses just didn’t fall into place.  As a result NDOA has given us flexibility in spending our remaining funds.

There was a short discussion about ideas for the 2006 NDOA grant.  Greg mentioned his struggle in Lipparelli Estates.  It was agreed to focus more attention in that area.  Once again we discussed whether the Woad Pull should be considered an eradication effort or an educational effort.  Greg suggested that we look into the Bag O Woad program.  We agreed that Kim needs more support.
