ANNOUNCEMENTS:
· Jill will e-mail a letter in support of the fuel suppression project to SCA. She also needs to check with Kim to see if he gave the spray paint to SCA for marking the weed locations.
· The Weed Booth at the Elko Home Show 5/11-13 was a success. Jill followed with the requests for assistance received at the booth.
PUBLIC COMMENT:
· Karen received a call for assistance from Ron Morley, SCA Golf Course, to treat hoary cress near the spring head. Jay will meet with Karen Wednesday 6/13 at 8:30 to identify and recommend a treatment.
NEW BUSINESS:
· Doug reported that he had received a request to present weed information for home owners at a future Elko County Realtor’s monthly luncheon meeting. Doug will arrange a time in July or August for the presentation.
· It was agreed on to extend the employment of Jed Bradley to update the weed inventory at the SC Campground and Rifle Range. $1000 is available to finish the 2006 mapping project (weed free vs. weed sites) and continue with the 2007 mapping at the campground. It was suggested that we provide training from Mark Coca in the mapping procedure. With the new state weed map person on board perhaps Mark can train us to collect the data in a format that can be forwarded for inclusion on the state map.
OLD BUSINESS:
· Doug reported that he has sighted and removed a few Dyer’s Woad plants along the highway.
· The Basin Tree Service contract has not been drafted/signed yet. Jill will call 6/9 and finalize the contract with Jess.
· A student was hired to work with Kim treating Dyer’s Woad. This first hire only worked for 3 days. The second student hired is working out very well. They have treated from Pleasant Valley to the Marina. The chemicals seem to be working differently this year compared to last year. Kim anticipates one more week treating the Woad areas and then they will move to the Horse Palace and on to the Mobile Home section.
· The SCA Bar-B-Cue has not been well attended in recent years. Other groups have not been invited to display information at the event and so it was decided that SCR CWMA would not have a display this year.
· Kim reported that he treated Dyer’s Woad with spot and boom spray at Dr. Jones’ place along Rabbit Creek 5/23, 24. He checked the old Lamoille dump area and it is looking good. A landowner on Ruby Home Ranch Road borrowed the tank and sprayer. A tire went flat and Kim replaced it, but otherwise the equipment was working okay. It has been reported that Dyer’s Woad is now being seen along Lamoille Road to Halleck (Hooper’s). Kim will try to get to it with the spray rig.
ITEMS FOR NEXT MEETING:
· update of weed inventory completed by Jed Bradley
· ‘Kim Tour’ of treatment along Rabbit Creek
NEXT MEETING DATE AND TIME: the next meeting will be scheduled for early August to give updates on the summer activities. A bar-b-cue was proposed.
ADJOURN – at 8:15 pm, with no further business to discuss, Karen made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Doug, motion passed unanimously.
